The supply chain for imported solid wood raw materials is stabilizing

The customs clearance process for global solid wood raw materials has been continuously optimized, and the supply chain of mainstream commercial solid wood has become stable, effectively alleviating the problems of timber shortage and price fluctuation in the furniture manufacturing industry, and guaranteeing the mass production of solid wood dining tables and whole-house solid wood furniture. Previously, affected by cross-border logistics and cumbersome quarantine procedures, core raw materials such as oak, walnut and ash had long arrival cycles, often leading to timber outages in processing factories and delayed delivery of solid wood dining table orders.

Quarantine departments of various countries simplify inspection procedures for solid wood boards, unify standards for wood fumigation and pest control, and reduce port detention time. Special freight routes for timber are added in cross-border shipping to improve the transportation efficiency of large batches of logs and boards, cutting the raw material arrival cycle by more than 30%. Meanwhile, diversified timber procurement channels have taken shape. Besides traditional import channels, the procurement proportion of timber from sustainable artificial forests keeps rising to balance price fluctuations of rare hardwood.

Stable raw materials directly benefit end products. In the past two years, the price fluctuation range of finished solid wood dining tables, sofas and cabinets has narrowed. Small and medium-sized furniture factories do not need to stock a large amount of timber to hedge price rises, reducing liquidity pressure. Manufacturers can plan the annual production schedule of dining sets and solid wood supporting products in advance, and the on-time order delivery rate is greatly improved. Industry analysts pointed out that the stable solid wood supply chain supports product innovation and style iteration, allowing manufacturers to invest more resources in developing new products such as lightweight and multi-functional solid wood dining tables, and continuously enrich solid wood furniture categories.
